About Son Nguyen

I am a freelancing photographer, with a focus in sport photography, in the Greater Boston area. Formerly, I worked as a Senior Staff Photographer and an Associate Photo Editor at The Daily Pennsylvanian, and a contributing photographer for Penn Athletics. I have received several awards including Lifetime Achievement Award and Staffer of the Year Award from the Multimedia department at The Daily Pennsylvanian, a third place for Best Sports News Photo in the Pinnacle Awards by the College Media Association, and an honorable mention for Single Sports Photography in the Gold Circle Awards by the Columbia Press Scholastic Association.

Though photography is my big passion, I am a scientist by training. I obtained my B.S. in Biological Sciences from Union College (Schenectady, NY) in 2014 and  Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) in 2020. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in system immunology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
